What is grooming?

Grooming is a word used to describe how people who want to sexually harm children and young people get close to them, and often their families, and gain their trust.

Online grooming may occur by people forming relationships with children and pretending to be their friend.

It is easy for ‘groomers’ to find child victims online. They generally use chatrooms which are focussed around young people’s interests. They often pretend to be younger and may even change their gender. Many give a false physical description of themselves which may bear no resemblance to their real appearance – some send pictures of other people, pretending that it is them.

One of my students asked me about how to protect your own pictures

Technology and society

Hello!

The last Friday we were still working on technology and society. In the previous class, the students wrote their opinions about how technology has changed society through a collaborative tool called padlet. The week before we also played Kahoot to find out how we use technology in our daily lives.

We kept talking about the aspects that technology has changed our society and how it changed it. Finally the students learnt how to make a word cloud and they made their first one with the website Tagul.

In the next class they will upload their word cloud about technology and society to their blogs. Some of them already tried it but they didn't know how to do it. This is because some tools of Blogger don't work properly on the Ipad, For that reason we are going to work with the app BlogPad Pro.

Moreover we are going to start working on copyright since one of the students copied and pasted on the Padlet task, so I'll use this situation to talk about the importance of copyright.

Padlet

Welcome to my blog!

As you know, each of you has to do a blog where you have to post everything we are working on in this subject.
Your first task is to write an introduction on your blog and write and definition of the word “blog” with less than thirty words after watching the next video.
